Mohican Trails Club to host National Trails Day
​Hike on Saturday, June 1st beginning at 11AM*
*Note later start time due to Mohican 100 Mountain Bike Race

Detailed Directions to Event Location:  From the North enter the park going south on Township Road 939. At the first intersection take a right on park road 58 to   the covered bridge. From the South take park road 58 north off State Route 97 to the covered bridge.

Hosting Organization:  Mohican Trails Club

Description: The Mohican Trails Club will again offer a hiking opportunity in the beautiful Mohican State Park Gorge.  Prior to hiking, hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks will be provided through the generosity of Big Brothers and Sisters of Ashland and Richland Counties.  There will also be a raffle for prizes provided by the Mohican Trails Club.

Two hikes are planned - a short kids hike hosted by a Park Naturalist and a 5K(3 Mile) hike that will follow along the beautiful Clearfork River.  The 5K Hike will be led by volunteers from the Mohican Trails Club and it will travel to Big Lyons Falls, Little Lyons Falls and Pleasant Hill Dam and Reservoir.   The trails​ are rated moderate to difficult. Hikes start and finish at the covered bridge.  All ability levels are welcome.

Mohican State Park and Forest offer outstanding beauty and limitless opportunities for visitors to hike and explore one of Ohio’s unique natural regions. The Clear Fork Gorge with its towering 200 year old Eastern Hemlocks and meandering Scenic Clear Fork River offers wilderness experiences for every outdoor enthusiast. With over 50 miles of trail ways for mountain bikers, horses and hikers, the hike will provide the opportunity to view native wildlife like white tail deer, turkey, beaver, bald eagles and multitudes of song birds along with the diverse and unusual flora a fauna of the Park.
